Eligibility
Must be a Webequie First Nation band member and/or 18 years of age. You can nominate a candidate for Chief position and/or you can second the nomination.
You are allowed to nominate or second only once.
All Nominees have 48 hours to determine, if, they want to run or decline as Chief.
Be aware the community requires drug tests for Chief and Council positions.
Issues and Concerns (before Nomination Meeting)
- Should voluntary drug test be done to the elected Chief and Councillors?
- Should the Deputy Chief position come from the Top Councillor position election result?
- INAC required only 5 positions: 1 Chief and 4 Council positions for the General Band Election 2011 due to the band's deficit. Should we consider this?
